The Fairlands F.C. team was started in 2002 ready for the 2002 / 2003 season as a follow on team to the already long standing Fairlands Youth F.C.
The idea was to have an adult team ready for the youth players to enter when they finished playing at youth level ie. Under 18's . We have had Youth players in the team from as far back as the 2004 / 2005 season joining at the age of 15 as well as still playing for their youth team .
Since the start back in 2002 , we have had mixed fortunes with the team finishing bottom of the table for the 1st two seasons then 2nd from bottom the year after , then in 2005 / 2006 we actually reached our first cup final . 2006 / 2007 saw us again reaching another cup final as well as finishing 3rd in the division . 2007 / 2008 season , no such luck and finished 5th in the division.
2008 / 2009 - reached and WON the division one north cup final . the teams top scorer Kenny Liggett was also the division one top scorer and also the leagues top scorer .
The team play Saturday afternoons in the North and Mid Herts League and our home games are played at Barclay School. We are always keen to see new faces , especially those coming from the Fairlands Youth ranks.
The age limit has now been set by the F.A. at 16 years old to play in adult football.
Darren Bent is one of the Barclays Premier League’s most prolific strikers. Now he’s passing on his top tips to help amateur strikers everywhere score more this month.
